camino frances 2nd edition
why would i walk the same camino twice?
it was back in 2022 that i first hiked from saint jean to santiago, and it was immediately clear that this would not be a once-off activity.
several family caminos later - always over easter, it is now time to walk solo again.
but again, why the same camino?
in a way, it isn’t the same camino. for one, it is almost four years later. i will walk at a different time of year. i will meet different people. i will stay in different places. the approach to walking along this traditional route will also be different. i am a different person compared to some years ago.
while i didn’t know what to expect the first time, i kind of know now, but in the end it will still feel differently and new again this time around.
what am i looking for? not sure i know, not yet anyway, and also not sure how to put it into words. maybe it’s just about providing space and time for something to develop, to arrive at something, somewhere. exploring.
as with the recent family camino, i plan to provide a daily report. about what i see, what i observe, what i experience, what goes through my head.
since i managed to install a reliable comments widget now (hopefully! let’s not praise the day before the next morning), can i ask you all to let me know, whether there are any particular topics related to the camino frances (or really anything you are interested in and feel i might have something to say about) that you would like me to write about?
i should mention that i write these reports in english despite my german (austrian / tyrolean) mothertongue, for the benefit of my english-speaking friends, many of whom can’t understand much german. if you would like to comment in german, tyrolean or any other dialect or language, that is fine too!
if you are able to just send an emoji to show me that there are actual people reading my reports and seeing my photos, that would be great too.
keeps me motivated!
