healthy rituals

not mundane routines, not efficient ones, but truly healthy ones. those that nourish. not filling the day, but the soul.

getting up early to meditate, not only getting up but meditating again and again until it starts to work, going for a long walk prior to breakfast, going for a dip in a lake or the sea.

playing a musical instrument regularly. not repeating the same songs, but learning new forms, new chords, new progressions. trying things. improvising.

reading books in a different language from your mothertongue. learning new palabras. new ways of expressing things.

reminding yourself to not overthink. being in the moment. feeling fully. allowing yourself to feel completely.

speaking differently. focusing on what you really want to say. saying it, honestly, without fear.

being creative. adding colours. or taking them away. being poetic. letting things happen.

writing. about everything. not holding back.

i think you get it - rituals that not only require attention, full presence, that cultivate it. in the end it's not so important what we do, but how we do it.

these days the healthy rituals take place in norway. we have been here last year already. it is really beautiful here on this group of islands southwest of bergen.

it takes a while to get here. in fact it took us a little over 24 hours. but it was a nice road trip through jutland, across the sea and another stretch from kristiansand to stavanger and up to the islands of austevoll.

what rituals do you follow in order to enrich your lives and not fall into mundane routines?
